🌙 What to Wear on Eid (When Your Soul’s in Cairo and Your Body’s in Jersey)

Years ago, I was lucky enough to spend Eid in Cairo. It was everything.

The buzz in the streets. The lights. The sounds. The smell of fresh balah el sham from every corner. Families dressed in their best, kids chasing balloons, moms carrying trays like Olympic champions. It was Eid in full color...and full volume!

Naturally, I planned to attend the morning prayer. Set my alarm. Picked out a crisp outfit. Told every cousin and friend, “We’re going together.”

Guess how many showed up?

Zero.

Apparently, "Let’s all go to Eid prayer!" was more of a suggestion than a plan.

I missed the prayer that year. But I didn’t miss the spirit of the day - the joy, the community, the unspoken rule that you must wear something new, even if it’s just a fresh pair of socks.

Since then, I’ve made every single Eid prayer here in the U.S. Rain or shine. Sleep or no sleep. Even if my outfit is less fashionista, more hoodie.

Eid in the In-Between

That’s the thing about being Egyptian-American. You’re always blending. Between languages, time zones, WhatsApp family group chats, and Whole Foods snack aisles.

And when Eid comes around, that feeling gets stronger.

  • You want the Cairo energy, but you’ve got a backyard BBQ.
  • You want the big family sufra, but your guest list is four people and a tray of Costco chocolate chip cookies.
  • You want your kids to feel it, even if they’ve never spent Eid in Egypt.

That’s why I started Soonaboosh. And that’s why I love designing Eid specials.

Eid Fits, but Make It Culture-Forward

Soonaboosh Eid drops aren’t about looking traditional or trendy.
They’re about feeling connected to where we’re from and where we’re going.

Our Arabic t-shirts and Egyptian hoodies are made to order, so there’s no waste - just bold, intentional style. Every piece is infused with design elements pulled from both sides of the map: Arabic calligraphy, modern silhouettes, nostalgic sayings, and lots of heart.

These aren’t just clothes. They’re Egyptian streetwear for your American reality. They're for showing up at Eid prayer *and* showing up at brunch. They're for your culture, your comfort, and your community.

Some of our bestsellers—like our signature Arabic collection of hoodies and t-shirts let the whole family match the vibe.

If you’re anything like me, trying to hold onto the Eid spirit in a world that’s moving fast—these pieces are for you too.

So, What Should You Wear on Eid?

Wear something that honors your story.

Something new (duh—Eid rules).

Something that says: I see my roots. I wear them proudly.
